I started my Counselling training nearly 20 years ago, and gained my Certificate and then Diploma in person centred counselling. At this time I worked for Victim support, where I helped victims of crime deal with the aftermath of these crimes, be it assault, burglary, rape, sexual abuse or murder, and the vulnerability, losses or trauma that these events left them with, so that they could move on with their lives.

Whilst doing this work, I also gained certificates in Bereavement and Loss, Substance Misuse, and a diploma in Hypnotherapy.

Although I found this work very fulfilling, I saw the possible impact of these issues on relationships, and developed an interest in couple counselling. To this end, I joined Relate and qualified as a Couple Counsellor, eventually gaining my Post Graduate Diploma.

As an adjunct to Couple Therapy, I also qualified as a Psycho-Sexual Therapist, helping individuals and couples deal with issues in their sex lives, and still work with Relate in both these functions to this day.

I would be very happy to work with both individuals and couples, regardless of ethnicity, creed or sexuality, and I look forward to hearing from you.

After my first degree I realised my interest lay in Psychology and completed my Psychology Diploma as a graduate. During this time I took a placement working for the National Phobic's Society whilst undertaking my level 2 counselling certificate in Person Centred Counselling and my diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

This allowed me to work with a variety of Anxiety disorders for example Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, a number of 'simple' and 'complex' phobias, Panic Disorder and so on.

Once qualified, I was able to do extra training in Stress Management, Body Issues and Women, Fat and Food. At this point I started working for The Priory more specifically with eating disorders. This has allowed me a depth of knowledge in Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and many other facets of disordered eating behaviour. As well as many other issues that people experience throughout their lives.

I consider myself a genuine open and accepting therapist and am happy to work with anyone regardless of ethnicity, religion and sexuality.

Having been interested in the workings of the mind and counselling for a long time, I undertook a Psychology Post Graduate Diploma, in conjunction with this I also achieved a Counselling Diploma in Person Centred Therapy. This lead to me working for both Mind ltd (Lancashire) and the Prison service as a Psychotherapist.

Having qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) I am completing a Masters at the University of Salford. I also volunteer at Salford Royal Hospital (assistant Psychologist) and for MhIST in Bolton. I have also recently completed some Mindfulness Based Therapy workshops and training.

A hugely maligned area of healthcare, I firmly believe in the benefit of therapy as a way of living a more fulfilled and happy life. I am looking forward to incorporating a Mindfulness based approach to all the clients and patients I work with. I am a non-judgemental therapist and will work with any individual, regardless of religion, ethnicity or sexuality.
